Notice to all patients who use a third-party organisation to order their medication

Please Note: this letter does not apply to our patients that order appliances from Fittleworths, Clinidirect, Nightingale, Charter, and/or Salts Medilink.

We understand that you currently use an On-line pharmacy service to deliver prescriptions to your home. These companies often promote ordering your repeat medicines directly with them rather than from Watership Down Health.

It is unfortunate that their ordering system does not ‘talk’ to our Practice clinical system, so they must send your order to the Practice via email for the GP to authorise. This process is not automated which causes delays for you and it is not safe practice as errors can occur when the data is manually transferred across.

For the above reasons, with effect from 1st April 2024, the Practice will no longer accept email requests from online pharmacies, so we are asking that you change the way you order your prescriptions.

Here are the options:

  • Using an approved App that is compatible with the Practice’s clinical system EMIS – we suggest the NHS App. If you do not have a Smart phone or are not confident with Apps, a relative or carer can do this for you.
  • By clicking the link below, you will be directed to the Practice’s website to order your prescription: watershipdownhealth.com/navigator/request-a-repeat-prescription/
  • You can send a paper request to the Practice – using the request slip that comes with your medication.
  • Most regular medication can be set for automatic processing; this means that the doctor can authorise between 6 and 12 months in advance for you and this would be processed monthly and delivered as usual without you needing to request each month.
  • You can call the Practice and speak to a receptionist – Tel 0333 034 1033.

You are not being asked to change the pharmacy you currently use, just the way you order your repeat prescriptions. Your safety is our paramount concern.

Information about ordering repeat prescription can be found at www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions/how-to-order-a-repeat-prescription or ask the Practice to print you a copy.

With kind regards
